What works for you? With my IRW stuff I have decided to go more in the direction of selling product and project kits. I have decided to give another little push to my current mailing list to see if I can get them interested in coming to the classes and crops I hold, and also coming to the classes I teach at the LSS since I do make money from those too. I sent out my own little newsletter to my contacts. In it I mentioned the dates and times of all the classes I am teaching this month. I also decided to offer up a little prize to them. I challenged them to make a layout with a few things I chose on it and I plan on doing a drawing for the winner from those that enter. The prize is a mini AMM tote that I got at Tuesday Morning for $7. I do not include shipping in the hopes that they will come to my house and pick it up or at least meet me somewhere so we get a chance to chat for a minute. I think the contest will be a nice thing to offer every month.
Have you offered any incentives of your own like this? Did they work?

I like the contest idea, but I would suggest that in the future, your prizes be IRW product. It boosts your sales, gets more of your product in their hands, and says that IRW stuff is so great, you'll get it as a prize! Other than that, I think word of mouth is your best marketing tool. Even if your first workshops have only 2 or 3 people, don't be discouraged. They will show what they made to their friends and tell them how great it is! Maybe give those that bring a friend to the next workshop a small gift.

Giving away IRW product was my plan from now on. I would actually be happy to have a single person coming to events on a regular basis, but literally no one comes. If it's people from meetup, they say they'll be here then no show (probably gonna stop doing the meetup group). No one else comes on a regular basis, it's all very few and far between. The last class I offered was one that I had been asked to offer by numerous people and not one signed up.

arrgghh...I know how frustrating that could be. Hmmm...what is the main reason they give for not coming? What's the "meetup group"? And, I would say have them commit with full payment in advance (unless they are regulars). Tell them if they don't make it, you will send them the kit contents. I have been burned more than once with no-shows.

There is a site called meetup.com where you can set up a group (and pay to have it through their site). I know that I need to be collecting payment in advance, that is part of the plan.
When they're not coming and they're members of the meetup group, they just don't show. No apology, no explanation, no nothing. I haven't really had a problem with people outside the meetup group pulling no shows. They usually pay in advance as well. The meetup problem is a problem for every rep that has a group, it's not just me. It's like that's the site you join if you were born in a barn :)

I know about the meetup.com whhen they changed the rules to the payment rule years ago. I dropped because I figured it wouldnt turn out so well when I was selling scrapbooking only products I dont hink anybody from my old area groups still do it. I am a better buyer/hobbyist than consultant or demo. I just couldnt get any buyers no matter what may one here and there but I knew them. It is frustrating. I am of no help to you, I just wanted to say good luck and dont give up.

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
