I'm hoping someone has a good idea for something to do with old shirts. Tshirts, flannel shirts, mens and boys dress shirts etc. Seems like I have tons of different cotton types I have and although I could give them to the Goodwill, I keep thinking there could be something creative I could do...

ideas?? :)

I just found a pattern in Mary Jane's Farm for a rug made of 1" t-shirt strips, using a size 15 circular needle.

That will get you to the magazine, but when I checked the pattern section, they didn't have the current issue listed. It's an interesting magazine if you're into that organic, green, etc., thing.

T-shirts I'm not sure about, but my mom made a block quilt with all my old dresses years ago and she still has it and should really give it to me, they were my dresses!! lol She had made all of the dresses also, I didn't have a store bought dress until I was probably 10 or older!!

I can't sew to save my life and was still able to make a t-shirt quilt. I love it and find it the best way to keep sentinmental shirts. I need to make another one...my t-shirt drawer barely shuts now.

Easy Shirt Pillow Back to Projects

Just follow these easy steps:

Supplies: washed and ironed button-downed shirt : choose one with
a nice flannel plaid, or intriguing design.

Lay out smoothly and using a straight edge, T square or (our favorite)
Omnigrid acrylic ruler, cut front and back into squares/rectangles 1" wider
on all sides than your pillow form. Cut the top edges just below the curve
of the collar, and the bottoms somewhere above the beginning of shirt-tail
curves.

Pin pieces right sides together, make sure the button plackets are lined
up.

Sew or serge around all 4 edges using a 1/2" seam, stitching across top
and bottom of button placket. *TIP: if using your sewing machine, when you
come to each corner, take 2 diagonal stitches before starting along the next
straight side. This will make the corners turn more smoothly.

Turn right side out. Now unbutton your shirt and insert pillow
form. --Button up and your done!

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
