I love the Sunrise patterns, I really like the Kwik sew books and other basic patterns easy and lots of room to customize

hey girls--don't forget to use the discussion areas for chit chatting and conversations---the stuff added in the comments area that we leave here below, don't show up in recent activity or on the home page of the site, so its hard to follow up on...thx!

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Nancy. I enjoy sewing, have not done much lately, I go in cycles. I'm always looking for new ideas and meet new friends. I'm not very computer savy so excuse any computer errors that I make.

I'm a sahm of 4 kids and I also like to scrap, garden, read and volunteer - pretty much anything to keep from cleaning the house!

Ah! Is that a good book Jeanne? I'm looking for a new 'non-business' book to read and I'd love something crafty! I just saw that an author named Katherine Reed just released a book with a scrapbooking plot and i thought that was sooo cool. Can you link me to the book on Amazon??

I know the basics...took my DD to 4H so she could learn how to sew...she made a dress that won Grand Champion that year at the State Fair. My latest obsession is to learn how to quilt...reading the Elm Creek Quilters series by Jennifer Chiaverini didn't help! I just got "Quilting Basics" from AC Moore.(with a coupon, of course!) Hope o begin after school ends this month!

I found a super sewing blog where the gal has little tutorials on hand-sewing stitches...too cool...look on the right-hand edge where it says "stitch school"...

OK, so I am a jack of fun all master of NOTHING!
I scrapbook, make jewelry, punch needle, turn wrenches after driving my dad's drag boat but my eyes keep wondering over to my mother's hobby of quilting.

From what I gather, repairing clothing is not nearly as rewarding as creating something from scratch... so I tried something minor. After learning that I can't fix a broken boat without the proper parts, I washed my hands and doodled on my mothers computer. Still thinking about the fun I had on the boat that day I drew my fathers race boat logo. My mother showed me how to transfer from her computer to her Viking Designer 1 sewing machine. So, I took an orange tank top and embroidered the yellow & gold logo of my dad's boat on it and low and behold, it turned out really cute!

So I guess I have been bitten, and will be able to report more adventures with sewing when MY NEW MACHINE comes to me (5-7 working days :) ha-ha).

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
