So last week I became the proud owner of a new IMac!!!!

I was thrilled to say the least. I plugged it in and went to town migrating stuff from my macbook. Very easy!
Well I got everything transferred and cleaned up the hard drive on the laptop so dd can use it for her college classes. (ie: deleted ALL of my documents, pictures and such) then what do I do???
I proceed to erase EVERYTHING off of my new computer (I was in one user account that I wanted to keep, and deleted the other user acct. I didn't need) WELL, it deleted the wrong acct.

I was SO sick, over 12,000 pictures GONE in an instant. I had lots archived on cd's or uploaded to various places, but none for this year. sick, just sick I tell ya!
Well DH found a recovery program on-line and $100 bucks later I had recovered most of my pictures. BUT, during the recovery I got multiple copies and thumbnail pictures to the tune of OVER 28,000 photos!!!! WOW, I was thrilled to get my pictures back, but talk about overwhelming. So I then purchased a program "duplicate annihilator" to get rid of the duplicates. It has taken me over a week to get my iphoto to where it is right, and I am down to 11,000 photos. whew!!! They are all backed up with time machine to an ext. hard drive (I already had this but it wasn't working right so my deleted stuff hadn't been backed up)
I haven't been here on cr8tv for over a week, I'm so behind and I'm leaving town thursday morning.
call me stupid and I'll totally agree with you.
