This past Valentine's weekend was
Scrapbook Expo time in Orange County, CA. If you have never been to an expo, here's the run down; two halls full of local vendors and established companies in the paper crafting world selling products at fabulous discounts. Also, there are classes galore! Wanna learn a new technique or just finally sit down and make a whole album? This is the place to get it done.
Here's how my mom and I spent our annual ScrapExpo weekend:
Friday:
Tattered Angels
Glimmer Mist Album Class . . . it was supposed to be "A day at the Beach" . . . I turned it into my own monogram princess journal . . . they were so generous to give us tons of chipboard shapes that I just used what ever struck my fancy ;)

Saturday:
Not Your Usual Cards class . . . we made some really great gift card holders and a couple blah cards . . . at least we learned a few new techniques and got inspired to go home and make similar cards, but with prettier papers

Sunday:
Melissa Frances
A Card for all Seasons (we always make sure we take a class with MF products)
LOVED this class, looove Melissa Frances paper and products. A couple of cards kept that "shabby chic" look and had fancy sparkles . . . very fun
SEI
Acrylic Album
Can you believe I have never made an acrylic album before? They've been hot for kind of a while now, but I've never gotten into them. Anyway, the class was great as SEI classes always are. We made a whole album in an hour and it was beautiful and fun to do. Am I an acrylic album addict now? NO. I think they make a great gift book. However, they are just not functional for the type of memory keeping I like to do.

Weekend Reflections:
The expo was surprisingly busy with a line out to the parking lot the first day. However, this year there were less classes and fewer big name exhibitors. It still made for a great expo, but I think the paper crafting world is definitely feeling the heat from the crashing economy.
